+/- 1 day, a year ago, I bought my first gun, a basic no-nonsense Marlin 60. It was a warm day, and I headed off to Outdoor America with the same friend who intro'd me to TFL and, eventually, THR. In the final moments of the decision-making, the two contestants were the Ruger 10/22 and the Marlin, the latter coming home with me because of its out-of-the-box accuracy over the 10/22.
So now, a year later, I thought I'd post a family portrait of my "collection," sans an M44 that was had only a short time before being traded. I'll get another one someday.
Anyhow...
From left to right in chronological order: Marlin 60, SAR-1, Winchester 1911SL, Mossberg 590 "Special Purpose," and the sporterized 1919 Swedish Mauser, purchased just this Monday.
(I know the pic's a little... rosy, but I blame that on being sleepy while touching up pics in Photoshop. )
And an old one of the SAR-1 just for the heck of it, back when I had painted the stock set black...
So far, all of the purchases I'd planned got cut short in favor of one of these (i. e., talking about getting an M1A but somehow getting a Mauser )
