Found this on CDNN's website.

From other sources, blade steel appears to be what Kabar calls SK5 (1080?)

Kabar has them on closeout for $40 but CDNN's price is obviously much better. Looks like the combo originally retailed for around $80.

Not really my kind of knife, but it looks to be a fairly decent price to me. Might get one as a gift for the nephew.

Not really a qualified, positive response here but the larger one's geometry looks a bit like a bread knife :) The smaller one I think I've seen on Cabelas sale for around $10 in the past. Must be some reason for the pricing, but not saying it's bad for the buck. Why else have a pouch gizmo to sell it?

The blade design is a tried and true pattern and I agree with JShirley that the sharp finger choil should be reduced with a grinder to make the big knife more comfortable to use. At those bargain prices I don't care what they call it!

Ka bar makes good stuff
At shot show, a few years ago they sold off the display models, cheap.
I got an orange handled one, similar tothe green one for10 bucks, Aus 8 steel. I carry it often.

I also got a now dicontinued bobcat. A folding version of the fixed blade. A big honking 1/2 pound of substancial knife. I use it in the woods hunting and fishing.

If you're good with a grinder, it's a great deal on a big knife with a useful sheath to throw in a pack or car kit. If you're not, buy a cheap Ontario knife.
