I just received a 20 ga 1842 Lancer pistol repro from Veteran's Arms. Fit and finish looks as good or better than most Spanish guns I have seen. The bore looks smooth and uniform and the barrel seems to have adequate barrel wall to withstand moderate loads. (Just a hair over one inch thick at the breech) The lock works well and the interior parts are polished with just a few file marks here and there. I haven't checked the hardness, but the polished finish certainly looks like better quality than most production locks on the market today.

I'll post more pictures and a range test when the mold I ordered comes in.

Sorry for the confusion Dave. It is stamped R G M Co, Udaipur India with what I suppose is a date 11-4-11. What I meant was that the fit and finish appear to be as good or better than many of the Spanish guns I have seen.

The mold got here yesterday, but it will be at least a week until I can make up some loads and range test it.

The bore at the muzzle measures .617 The mold is supposed to throw a .600. I have to see about some wads to try some shot loads as well. Circle Fly is a few miles down the road. Don't know if they will deal FTF.
