So I’m in the market for an affordable 20 gauge auto shotgun and have narrowed it down to these two Turkish made shotguns, the Stoeger M3020 or the Mossberg SA-20. Given these two options, which would you choose and why?

Stoeger. Benelli’s country cousin. I’ve used the 3500 and would be pleased to have a 3020 in the safe.

For me the Mossberg. Less recoil and I believe it’s better quality. I owned a Stoeger for several years and it didn’t have any problems but I’d still take a SA-20. And it’s not even close.

I think the Mossberg and the viper are (basically) the same gun, the Weatherby sa-08 I think is also kissing cousins. I think the same Turkish outfit makes the lot of them.

So I really think it comes down to what YOU like best. Look at what each company brings to the table, warranty, choke tubes, how the stock feels to YOU.....that kind of thing.

I don't think you will go wrong with any of them.

Having had the Stoeger M3020 I will say that I could shoot it very well. My Grandson has it now and is extremely happy with it. There is some felt mechanics going on during the shot cycle that I never got used to. A limb saver increased the shooting pleasure a lot. The gun operated perfectly as long as it's held firmly against your shoulder which will not be a problem for the experienced shooter. Did have some issues with new shooters though. That being said if I were to do it again I would probably go with a gas operated system next time. The SA-20 would be my choice for a 20ga. semi-auto. You might want to take a look at this.
