2017 biathalon world championships

i've been watching the biathalon world championships for the past two days. the races are downloaded on youtube "next day". these athletes are just fantastic with a pair of skis and a firearm.

i fast forward to the shooting portion of the competitions to watch and learn how to shoot better. the commentators are also quite knowledgeable and i gleam a lot of info from them as well.

the event runs another ten days, i believe.

A very difficult event. In the standing targets notice how they breathe by expanding the diaphragm below the rib cage rather than expanding the chest.

Biathlon was originally shot with center fire rifles at 300 meters. That changed to 22's at 50 meters in the 1970's.

Absolutely marvelous athletes.
If you ever get a chance to take a look at a championship Biathlon ski course....some of those hills that they ski UP are so steep that they are like walls.....often that doesn't show on videos. Amazing what those men and women do.
