2021 Combo League

Regular leagues are winding down. We started a trap/skeet combo league and this evening was week two. We missed last week so had to shoot twice tonight. I got high gun for our team with a 24skeet/25 trap for week one and a 21 s/25 t for week two. Have to wait a couple days for standings but we were 210/208 for the two weeks. Wierd thing:. Everybody had the exact same score for both rounds of trap.

Week three in the books. Squad only missed four birds in the trap round, 25, 25, 25, 24 22. I've not missed yet. Wish we could up the skeet half. Two 23s and the rest high teens. I'm happy with a 47.6 ave.

Week four in the books. My fourth 25/25 in trap half. Lousy 22 in skeet. One man short so with sub score a 213. We shall see what number one did. Fun. Just checked standings. We picked up five so we are closing in.

My run of 25s ended tonight with a 24. My kid is on week two of his run. We'll see. Tied overall at 43. 214 for team total. Hope we picked up a bird or two on #1.

I need to better understand these shotgun games. I know hitting is good and missing is bad. Beyond that it’s as confusing to me as Olympic style ping pong.

we are shooting in a league where a five man team shoots each week against a number of other five man teams. In this league each week we shoot a round of trap (25 birds each at 16 yards) and a standard 25 bird each round of skeet for a team possible of 250 birds. Eight weeks. Each week a standings list is updated and highest to lowest team totals are listed. My team total is only three birds fewer than the first place team. Most trap and skeet events are individual competitions in which you are shooting against everyone usually in a specific class defined by demonstrated (historical) ability.

Great start. 118/125 in trap half with 25, 24, 23, 23, 23. Then lightning. We had the "A" team on the field. Now, wait til next week for the skeet half and then shoot both for that week.

One week left. Made up the missed skeet round which left us seven birds behind. Then shot the current week's program and wound up one bird ahead in first place overall. Putting the A team on the field for the final push.

Final, second overall. Tied in trap for first, missed out in skeet. (I did my part in trap, 196/200).
