2023 Hunting Picture Thread

My daughter found sweet redemption tonight. She wounded this deer last year as a spike. It was my fault. I pushed her to shoot when she wasn’t comfortable. This year the deer, which we named Tripod after his front leg was wounded, has been limping around all season and my daughter has been absolutely determined to end his struggles and redeem herself. I bought her a Springfield 2020 Waypoint in 6mm Creedmoor for Christmas and she’s been shooting it a good bit. She killed her first deer with it last week and this evening at 16:43, she closed the book on Tripod. Perfect shot at 55 yards. The 103 ELD-X punched through and wrecked everything in that deer. Found him forty yards away wedged between a couple trees. I’m a proud dad tonight and I can’t hide it. Her determination and perseverance was incredible to see. Thanks for letting me brag for a minute. C2A724AA-DA5D-42A9-BE52-2A675A598D0D.jpeg DCB4C763-3B93-443A-AA2D-0B69948C1450.jpeg 1255C9C4-50F0-40B7-B8A9-A1525D10DB8D.jpeg

Didn't see any of the big ones this season, but I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to arrow this pretty little 12-point back in November. He only made it 20 yards.

Then, a couple weeks later I checked off a bucket-list item when I took this doe with my birth-year 3-screw .45 Blackhawk. She, too, only went 20 yards.

That “pretty little 12 point” is a stud in my part of the country. Beautiful deer.

This is another reason why our deer camp went zero for five this year.

With two bad winters back to back and these timberdawgs, no bucks were seen this season.

The wolves showed up at my trail camera at an intersection of 3 trails.
They appeared to have a meeting on which way to go with all the pictures taken here, back and forth several times.

Whatcha gonna do?
gut shoot em
