2023 Hunting Picture Thread

This is another reason why our deer camp went zero for five this year.

With two bad winters back to back and these timberdawgs, no bucks were seen this season.

The wolves showed up at my trail camera at an intersection of 3 trails.
They appeared to have a meeting on which way to go with all the pictures taken here, back and forth several times.

Whatcha gonna do?

Looks like Central Wisconsin 😡

Our temps on Sunday (last day of rifle season) were also in the twenties, but with the wind chill it was bellow zero.
The last day of rifle season in KY was the coolest. Still in the 40s and 50s, rainy, and being pushed out by the cold front we have seen for 2 days now. Deer are finally moving like they should, but after rifle season ended. Good thing I bought the kids a youth muzzleloader and a crossbow. Still plenty deer season left when those are legal.

Was sitting on the ground against a tree yesterday evening.
We had some snow come in Tuesday, and there was about 2” or so left on the ground yesterday.
I sat facing East near the bottom of a drainage of a ridge that always seems to have deer, towards where deer have usually come into this area from.
Just after sunset I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye to my left, and slowly turned to see something walking slowly towards me. I checked with my binos and confirmed it was a Doe and watched her close the distance.
i think she noticed me as she stopped and stared at me a couple of times to see if I would move.
waited until she walked behind a group of trees so she wouldn’t see me raise my rifle. When she came out of the trees she walked up a small rise and gave me a quartering to shot. I hit her in front of her left shoulder and the 150 grain Accubond handloads exited out behind her right shoulder.
She traveled maybe 40 yards and crashed, leaving a good blood trail.
She will eat well IMG_5421.jpeg

My Tikka 7-08 in the deer stand, The white spot half way up the tree is the tail of a deer I shot from the stand, telephoto lens about 100 yards. Same picture no magnification.
