Going to reload 20 ga at a friends place and I have Federal once fired cases, Win 209 primers, 25lb of 7 1/2 shot and 2lbs of Unique powder. This will be used for trap and Sporting Clays, nothing serious.
What kind of a powder & shot load should I use with what I have.
Will be shooting the Beretta A400 KO Sporting with 28" barrels.
Thanks

Shot load will depend on what appropriate wads you have, preferably 7/8oz wads. I would have to look up the powder quantity. for a 1200fps load.

Those are a good combination. I’d make a few suggestions regarding the Federal hulls. If they’re the standard paper basewad type they can get loose primers after as few as one reloading with the Win 209s. I’ve also had some go 6 loads just fine. I just toss any I can push out too easily. They’re cheap and easily replaced hulls. They also really crimp better with federal wads than other types.

1200 fps loads are kind of the standard for clay games ammunition.

As kudu said, pick the appropriate wad for the hull in use and a 7/8 oz shot load.

I shoot mostly skeet and buy ammunition or load ammunition to about 1200 fps. It keeps the leads the same regardless of the gauge in the gun.

I started reloading in 1970 using a Lee classic hand loader I got for my 14th birthday.
I used the Data from the Lee inset. #108 measure (16gr of Unique) and a Remington RP (7/8oz) wad with whatever hulls I had. I actually preferred the Federal hulls.
I Wore out a Mossberg M500 pump with that load.
I loaded 6’s for most game. 8’s or 9’s for skeet. Even used fishing sinkers for buckshot.

I now use GreenDot in a 7/8wad (most work, CB, AA, REM,Federal) as I was gifted 8lds of it a while back. I use 12.5gr iirc. Just barely, but reliably cycles a TriStar Raptor.
Haven’t shot skeet in 15yrs as range closed. But I still hunt small game with either a 20 or .410.

You are better off tossing the hulls you have and getting either Winchester AA's or Remington STS. The Federals are go for a couple reloads and that's about it, the AA's and STS can go much longer...10 or more provided yo don't push" them too hard. I would also get Claybuster 3/4oz wads, I've been running them for years and as the saying goes...if I do my part, they do theirs. Added bonus...you get more loads out of a bag of shot

Alliant has the data; several wads to choose from Primers listed are Fed 209A or CCI 209M

I shoot year round down here in South Carolina, and get my reloading supplies from the range where I am a member. There were NO supplies to be had here on or about Christmas. Some of the other guys I shoot with missed the boat for powder, primers, shot, and wads. By the time they decided to start reloading again, all of the supplies were gone. I have been on the list for shot and powder since they ran out. I have enough supplies for 12 gauge to last me till the end of July, then I can shoot 20 gauge till about October.

Be advised that Federal hulls are straight inside and need a specific wad. The Rem and Win hulls are tapered inside and take a different wad. As said before follow the reloading data exactly, or there may be a bad BOOM.
