22 ammo sticker shock

Ouch. Same supplier and same ammo I bought 6 months ago and it has more than doubled.

CCI Standard Velocity @ 8.99 per hundred x 10 ... Plus Insurance 1.39, Shipping and Handling 19.26, and 7.91 tax.
FYI, from "Affordable 22LR (Lowest shipped pricing)" thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-shipped-pricing.902560/page-16#post-12851247

SV is (was?) roughly $70-brick here fir a while. I haven’t checked the price recently, though.

Stay safe.

Shipping costs are getting awful now. By the time I pay shipping and state sales tax it doesn't make sense to order 22 ammo on line. I'm glad I don't burn through it like most of todays shooters, and I love to shoot the little pills.

My youth still has me trained to ration shooting up ammo fast. When I was shooting $0.69/box 22 LR ammo I was making a whopping $0.90/hr working 48 hours a week. 22 autoloaders were uncommon among my friends; we shot mostly Marlin Mdl 81 and Winchester Mdl 72 bolt actions. The Mdl 72 was Spooky accurate! I saved up lawn mowing money and got a Marlin Mdl 39; made me feel like a rock star.

We could buy surplus 30 Carbine ammo cheaper than 22 LR ammo sometimes and burned through cases of that.

I will be watching here for any heads up regarding deals on 22 ammo. I have a good supply, but I want to be able to keep it that way after visits from the grandsons. ;)

This is pretty much where I'm at on all calibers. If it's in stock at a local store, it's cheaper to buy it in town, no matter what it is. The only time I order online is if I need it soon and it's unavailable locally. If there is no immediate need, I'll just wait for it to reappear on a shelf.

^ Good deal.
I have seen similar deals at recent local shows this year.

Some people don't like Aguila; make sure you're okay with it before you commit to a bunch.

CCI SV 40gr groups very well in my CZ 457 pro Varmint and I dont see the point in buying anything more expensive than it.

You might try checking out Ammo Seek for prices - One had the Aguila Extra HV .22LR 38 gr. HP for $41.60/1000 rds.
I couldn't get the prices of S&H without setting up an account with the various vendors, something I'm not willing to do at this time.
In the small vertical bar graph on the right side of each vendor's line, it gives you a number that represents where their shipping charges are ranked against other vendors. Most I saw were a "5", i.e., "mid-range". If you see a "CF" (I saw one), that stands for "conditionally free" based on order size.

The $118 for 2000 rounds plus FREE shipping is a smoking deal.

I paid $118 for 1400 count Remington Bucket o Bullets BEFORE tax in Washington state a few months back.

Well, accuracy standards and requirements vary.

I have a CZ 457 Varmint (not Pro) that gets ok 5-shot groups out of CCI SV in the .5-.6" ranges fairly consistently, but it's disappointing to know it can do better because I've shot .2"-.3" groups fairly regularly with Lapua Pistol OSP and 1 4-shot group at .110" before I messed up the 5th shot. There's nothing like seeing a 5-shot, 1-hole target right in the center of the target.

I used to not see the point, then I began shooting REALLY small groups with excellent ammo and don't mind paying more for the potentially excellent precision. Again, standards and expectations vary.

Once upon a time I would buy 50 rounds of Federal 22LR whenever it went on sale for $0.49 a box. That happened fairly often back in the 60s. Now I look for CCI SV below a dime a time. I buy big when I have an order that trips the shipping included trigger, and usually get my brother to pile on. Most of it will outlive me, but will make someone happy someday.
