What's the skinny on Colt doing another production run to fix earlier problems with the .22-cal. King Cobra? Did Colt admit issues with earlier version of the firearm?

They say they have fixed the initial misfire issues, some people are happy with them. They replaced my first one with misfire issues, but my second one would fire out of time and split bullets in half. I returned it and they sent me a third one, I didn't accept the third one at my FFL because it appeared that it could have similar timing issues and asked for my money back. The whole process has been almost a year now and I'm still waiting to get my money back. It is a very nice looking revolver and should be good for sports like steel challenge, I hope they can make it successful because I spent a of lot time developing a loader for it. colt_loaders_800x600.jpg

Ouch! That stinks to hear about your guns’ issues. I so wanted one, but I never got the chance to see/buy one so I got a S&W Model 617 instead. (Been working on that guns trigger pull, sloooowly getting better.)

I do hope others have had better luck, they really are good looking revolvers and I would hate to see them discontinue them due to the issues you described.

Stay safe.

Your experience with the King Cobra is painful to read. Makes me wonder why Colt released a firearm with those issues. Expect better performance from Colt.

I don't think the released many. Out of 21 shops between 3 states one is a very LARGE colt dealer none of them have seen the new .22 Colt Cobra. I mean like not one has landed in the door.

Never seen a 4.25” barrel one in the flesh. Never even seen a picture of the alleged 6” barrel version. When they announced it, I was excited and planned to purchase one as soon as they became available. Now, I wonder if they ever will become available, or if they are garbage and should be avoided. Maybe I should just wait for Ruger to produce some GP-100 .22’s.

I'm sorry, I'm not an engineer but having the firing pin hit the rim on the extractor plate (inside) instead of the cylinder rim (outside) seems problematic. Just an opinion. Joe

I got my money back from Colt, now I have to figure out what to buy with it, maybe a new crossbow.

I've got one on order now (4.25" ), waiting for it to ship.

It appears another batch has gone out. I got lucky (maybe?) and caught one on-line for MSRP, plus $19 shipping. This was after my dealer gave up after having one on order for me for close to two months.

They've been asking insane prices on Gun-Broker, but that's the norm over there.
