I don't own a Raging Hornet, but the round has intrigued me. I was curious, with the tapered case, do they back out of the cylinder often? Or do they have a retention mechanism?

No retention mechanism.
Just a necessity to keep cylinders clean and dry of any oil.
Lubricants allow case to be forced back against the recoil shield rather than case gripping walls of the cylinder.
Guns are quite large and heavy.

The occasional post of the Harvey Kay-Chuk does not mention setback.
Christy made Hornet and Bee cylinders for SAA but there wasn't an internet to circulate reviews.
