ps: I took my Wilson/Marvel Unit 1 combo out today and fired at 50 yds without a rest for the first time in many years. Two conclusions,
1) I "ain't" as young as I used to be, and
2) That target sure does look small from 50 yds away.

can you still hit the target ? Are you using iron sights or is your rifle scoped ? :)

good shooting and take care. :)

Ruger Mk III Hunter 6 7/8"
Ruger Mk III Target 6 7/8"
Ruger Super Single Six SA revolver 9.5"
Glock 17 AA .22 lr conversion kit
Ruger 10/22 mods Green Mountain fluted stainless steel 18" barrel, Revival Tundra wood laminate stock, Simmons 3-9x40mm
Ruger 10/22 factory
CZ 452 rifle

Whenever I go to the range to shoot, I always start off by firing .22lr firearms before getting to the major caliber.

Glock 17 is my major caliber handgun of choice. Before I get to that, I use my AA .22lr conversion kit and get off about a hundred rounds before using the normal caliber for it.

My objective is to improve my marksmanship and I'm a firm believer in repetition. I get in more reps with 22's because of price. A box of 50 rounds of 9mm costs $10. The same $10 gets me 500 rounds of .22. All shooting fundamentals get practiced, except recoil management.

Ruger K77/17 VMBBZ 17HMR with Nikon Titanium scope (love this gun)

Love rimfires...I'm an addict with no intent on recovering....

M92FS,
Touche. The Wilson/Marvel Unit One is a 1911 pistol frame with .22 pistol conversion unit/slide sitting on it. My unit has standard open/iron pistol sights. I managed to hit the target and most of the shots were inside the 9 ring. Tried to get the sights adjusted for 50 yds with WW HV and CCI Mini Mag ammo but weather conditions were not very good. The wind was gusting from 25-35 mph and the temperature was 48 degrees. Wind was blowing my arm/gun around so sights wouldn't stay on target. (Sounds better than saying I was wobbling all over the place, right?) Results were OK for first time back at that distance in ?? years but hope to do better next time. May also have to look for another excuse just in case they aren't. :)

Good shooting and be safe.

I had to put 'no' because I don't own a .22 firearm. I own...:uhoh: lets see now. I think I have 8 of them. Three are ruger 10-22's

aahhhh Geezer denial....yes. It frees you up to buy another rimfire and for just a moment(or for a couple of months) its like its the only rifle you have. I enjoy this psychosis as well.

browning buckmark field, which i use for target and am VERY happy with its accuracy

Need to get a rifle for my son, so i guess i'll own 2 pretty soon...

Got 4

Ruger MK II
Ruger Single-Six, with .22LR and .22Mag cylinders
Savage Mod 64F
Some kind of off-brand boltie, private purchase.

I've got a Marlin 60 Wal-Mart special and a Ciener 1911 .22 conversion. The pair cost me less than most single guns would, and are some of the best money I've spent. They're just a ton of fun to shoot.

I think there's a Bearcat in my future, too, although my daughter will think it's hers. :D

Remington Nylon 66, H & R .22 Revolver.. Etc.

The very first firearm I was ever allowed to 'carry' on our farm as a kid was a Remington Nylon 66. I gave up trying to figure out how many rounds have been through it, and it still spits them out with nary a complaint, and looks like new. The rest, as they say, is history... I've started collecting the 66's recently, have 4, along with a single shot Winchester Bolt action, a H & R 9-shot .22 revolver that my Grandmother used to shoot crows with, and my wife's P-22 Walther.

IMHO, you gotta have at least a few .22's around at all times to get newbies and anti's to try out. That's the quickest way I know of to turn a non-shooter into 'one of US.'

And that, as they say, is a GOOD thing... :D

JohnBt: Nice group of 22's. I also have a Rem 541-S and would love to get a Cooper. Numbers....personally I have three 22 rifles at the moment. If I hunted more with 22's, I would have more. I tend to shoot my Ruger Mark II and High Standard Victor the most of the pistols. Most everything else have become safe queens.

I find the survey interesting. Lots of responses and less than 2% don't have one or are not interested in getting one. That says a lot about 22's. People put them down, but they are for everyone.
