I have a suppressor coming (someday) and while it's primary use would be pistols I would like a .22 Rifle to go with it. Any suggestions and source would be appreciated. I was looking at a Winchester Wildcat, but not sure of a source. Thank you for any help.

I'd just grab one of the factory threaded 10/22's.

Probably one of the take-down models.

I'd avoid the winchester wildcats, they're not my thing.

I think I answered you on GT, but don't mind doing it again. If you really like the Winchester Wildcat, I noticed that they have a 'find a dealer' function on their website that might prove useful. https://www.winchesterguns.com/products/rifles/wildcat-22/current/wildcat-22-sr.html

If you're not stuck on the WW, Ruger makes the Ruger American Rimfire and the 10/22 with factory threaded barrels.
Thank you. I have two 10/22's an was just looking for something different.

I suggest a bolt action, toggle bolt, or lever. You get a good bit of action noise on a semi auto but a manually operated action really gets the most out of the suppressor.

And to add to this good information. It is hard to beat one of the suppressor ready Savage rifles.

Here's a Savage that might fit the bill. https://www.savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=47241

I have to agree with this. I have a Dead Air Mask that I have run on a couple of Ruger American Rimfire rifles, and a 10/22. The 10/22 is notably louder because of action noise. The RARs sound like pellet guns when I run CCI Quiet.

I decided on the Winchester Wildcat SR. It's only a couple hundred bucks, it takes 10/22 magazines and it's a Winchester. Suppressor ready and since my Wife is buying it I'm taking it easy on her. The suppressor is really for .22 pistols, S&W Compact and TX22's, the rifle is just a bonus.

I have a mask as well and run it on a 10/22 with a threaded kidd barrel, and on a cz bolt gun. 9 times out of 10 I grab the cz. 2 reasons: 1) it's quieter. 2) shooting subs or standard velocity ammo is the only way to go with a 22 rifle, and those are kind of expensive. The bolt gun slows me down. It is also more accurate and has a better trigger.

After I got the mask stuck on the 10/22 because of crud build up, I bought a cheap strap wrench for short term, and a gemtech qd mount for a more permanent solution. It's expensive, but well worth it for me.

I also shoot my 22 pistol 10x as much as the rifles. 1) I find it's just more fun to me.
2) cheap bulk ammo stays subsonic, so it's cheaper to shoot.

Man I wanted to like that rifle but I’ve yet to read a good review outside of the gun rags. If it were a couple hundred for budget, a Feddersen threaded barrel, pick one of your 10/22s to love, and save the frustration.

All the reviews I have read have been positive. The fact that it uses 10/22 is a big plus as I have a bunch from owning a couple of 10/22's. This was not a "Budget" selection. I had Carte Blanche to pick a gun as a Christmas present. It's a tradition thing from my Wife to me. I was just loking for a .22 to try out my suppressor on and the Winchester looked to fill the bill on that.

I see the OP made his decision. But for future reference, I believe there are quite a few machinists and barrel-smiths around who will thread a barrel for a very low cost. And, you don't need the FFL stuff to ship a barrel...anywhere. So I would not limit myself to only new rifles that are factory threaded.

I agree with Someguy, a bolt or single shot is more quiet, and is much/something different from 10/22's and their cousins. Also, automatics are dependent on full power ammo to function. Shooting CCI "Quiets" through a canned bolt action would truly be quiet.

A CZ 457 Pro Varmint rifle would be a great choice IMHO. I recently got one and it is a beautiful and slick rifle for the $550 price tag.

I have a Bergara BXR which is a 10/22 clone with a better barrel and better trigger. It uses 10/22 mags. Mine is very accurate. If you prefer a bolt gun, you might try a Bergara BMR. Both use the same barrel, both threaded. Both are available on GunBroker. You will only have the expense of a scope. I've owned 10/22 and prefer the BXR. Too many of the cheaper rim-fires, not all certainly, but too many are just that...cheap.

This last year I probably used my CZ bolt action the most, #2 would be my SBR 10/22. There really isn’t a wrong answer and the only way to suggest something based on use, is to know the intended use.

Let us know what you think about your new rifle though.
