I'm looking to buy a good quality, accurate, 22 target pistol. I want to know what would be a good one to buy.

I have a browning buckmark that is quite accurate and shoots anything you feed it. Others will say go with Ruger MkIII. And if you truly want a fine weapon go with the Smith and Wesson which will set you back over $1000.

ahem... Ruger... ahem...

For a fraction of the price of a smith 41, you can get a Ruger in whatever variation you like.

Damn, beaten by chevelle.. at least it wasnt gremlin

i have a MKII target scoped AND AND A MKIII hunter and i can out shoot my self with my old 1964 BROWNING NOMAD.

THAT IS 1 GREAT GUN

wish i could get a medalist one day

when i take the girls out shooting they ask if im bringing the browning

It depends on what you want to use it for.
Both the Browning Buckmark and the Ruger pistols are excellent, affordable pistols that offer great accuracy and aftermarket parts support. Nevertheless, they are not as accurate in stock form as a S&W 41, or a Haemmerli or other dedicated match pistol. This is reflected in the price, with the Smith coming in around 1000 USD, and Haemmerli's for quite a bit more.

There are many options. Which one you choose is dictated by your needs (accuracy, ergonomics, etc...), and what you're willing to pay.

Check this one out too. No longer imported, but available used.

Hi-Standards are also well-thought of

At one time I had about 6 semi auto .22's, then I bought a Smith 41. Now the only semi 22's I have is the 41 and a few with sentimental value I'll never sell and rarely shoot.

At least 3 Rugers and a Browning were sold since getting the 41.

Revolvers are an entirely different discussion ;)

S&W 41.
I have two, one 5.5 heavy barrel and the other 7.5 with copensator, they are very accurate pistols.

I own a Buckmark and have access to several Mk II and Mk III's. All of them can out shoot me. Unless you are looking for a SERIOUS target competition pistol either of these is an excellent choice with plenty of aftermarket support.

If you want to go for some serious competion Hämmerli is the way to go IMHO.
I like my 280, used for around 400 Euros

well he did say pistol, not revolver, and 41 prices didn't spook him, so
yeah, S&W 41, Hammerli, or ORIGINAL Hi-standard (vs the new Hi Standards)

if budget realities set in belatedly, then, yes
Ruger MKs and Buckmarks
most everything else in the same or lesser price class than those is "plinker" fun class vs "target" class

(and if wheelguns should just happen to cycle around, Freedom Arms SA or S&W k-22/17/18 DAs)

Define "traget pistol." Do you want to go out and have some cheap fun with a cheap gun? Have some fun with a cheap-to-shoot good quality gun that'll last forever? Or do you want to compete seriously against other shooters? The answer will determine what gun(s) to consider and how much $$ is required.

If you are on a budget, the S&W 22A is a good shooter.

My answer as well.

Honestly, any Ruger, Browning, etc will fit the job. They are all accurate.

I put an el cheapo Red Dot on my S&W. IMO it makes it more fun. Have taken several critters at distances ranging up to 100 yards with it.
