Hello guys i am looking for some insight into a decision i cant seem to make. I am re-barreling a marlin bolt action rimfire to 22 magnum. I have narrowed my barrel blank search down to either a green mountain or an X caliber blank.
GM 22 mag .219 bore .224 groove 14 twist cost $106
X caliber .220 bore .224 groove 14 twist cost $150 this one is hand lapped
I know 16 twist is the norm but I think the 14 will serve my purpose better. Has anyone any experience in this matter? I know the Lilja site says to use a centerfire spec barrel for 22 wmr. I am overthinking this because once its contoured for the rimfire action it wont have enough meat left for reuse should it not work out. However I want it to work out, and I want to do the work myself. Thanks much
