Case guage?!? I guess that's a new tool I'll have to get. Thats something new to me. I'll look it up. Thanks

Oh btw is a case guage a universal thing or do i need one for every different caliber I load.

How about 556 cases?
Can they be re-loaded with 223 bullets?

Thanks

5.56 and .223 are basically the same caliber, and are both .22 caliber (.224), so any .22 cal bullets of a weight your barrel twist will handle will work.

Case gauge stuff:

If rounds are loaded without the benefit of a case gage (especially if the rounds are used in a semi-auto firearm), it will only be by luck that the rounds actually function without various serious issues.
Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket then...and since most case gages only confirm headspace, they won't pick up on a buckled shoulder from crimping.

The easiest way I've found to not buckle the shoulder is to avoid crimping with a seating die. On the rare occasions that I do crimp .223, I use the Lee Factory Crimp die.
