Mini-mags and Stingers are great. My Kimber conversion would even shoot the $9.00 per 550 round carton at Wal-mart stuff just fine (Remington I think).
With my Marvel CCI Mini-mag and Remington Golden Bullet value pack has been very reliable. I wouldn't bend over to pick up a box of CCI Blazer, really bad feed problems and accuracy.
For good ammo mine has run well with CCI green tag and the hotter Eley match and target stuff. The Federal target grade is another I wouldn't waste the energy on, no feed problems, but you would think for 3.50/50(I bought a brick :banghead: ) you would get reliable ignition. I got about 3/50 that would not fire, one I kept I had re-indexed in the chamber 8 times with no fire, nice little wagon wheel effect.
For 22 ammo, I do recommend staying away from the Remington 550-count bulk container you get at Walmart for any autoloader. The bullets are set loose in the case and will actually cock at an angle while trying to load magazines and as it tries to chamber. The bullet is also easily spun in the case. I bought some of these bullets to plink with the 10/22s and my Ruger MKII. I had SEVERAL failures to feed with both the 10/22s and the bullets even got stuck in a brand new magazine and a 30-rounder that I've had for 20 years and never had a problem with. I had one FTF in the MKII in 100 rounds, though. I remember 2 or 3 that failed to ignite, too (one I double hit with my Taurus PT-22 and it fired on the second hit)...In the past, I've always liked CCI and Winchester's 22 ammo.
Yep. I bought a Kimber .22 long rifle slide for my model 1911. It performs flawlessly with high speed ammunition, but doesn't always feed CCE standard velocity. My gunsmith is cooking up a lighter main spring and housing for me, because the slide's accuracy is truly amazing. I'm planning to use it as a bullseye pistol.
