so last week i bought the ciener conversion kit for an AR. it's the one where you swap the bolt carrier out, not the whole upper.

anyways, i put several hundred rounds through it, and it worked fine, but i noticed it spit a lot. you know, like those cheap european pistols that throw particles of whatever and hot gas back in your face.

it was rather annoying, but of course, i wear glasses, so there wasn't any permanent damage. (I could definitely feel hot things hitting my face every time i fired)

now, granted, i'm left handed, so my face is on the stock, but on the same side as the ejection port. but i just can't figure out how that stuff was hitting me. the 22 cases were landing about 6 feet from me, at about 70 degrees from the stock

anyone else have this experience?

You are left handed firing a blowback semi-auto .22lr and you are surprised that you are getting some powder in your face? I am not left handed but I would think that this would happen to anyone shooting a semi-auto blowback from the "wrong side" of the stock. :D Do you have this problem with other semi-auto .22lrs you have shot?

I suppose you could try the PRI GasBuster charging handle.

Though that will not help if the stuff blowing into your face comes from the ejection port.

I need to do some left handed practice anyway, so I will try mine out next time I get a chance.

Same thing happens to me shooting a semi-auto .22. My Marlin mod 60 does it a bit. Wear glasses and its all good. Sometimes I will switch and shoot right handed-even if its not as comfortable- if its really bothering me. Us lefties just have to put up with some stuff.

no, i never had this from a .22lr before. mostly stuff like .380.

They make a left handed AR lower but I don't think the Ciener would work in it.

I have seen plenty of left handed bolt actions but I don't see any left handed semi-autos. You would think it would pay to make a run of left handed Ruger 10/22s since even lefties that have a 10/22 would probably buy a left handed version as well.

I really think left handed people are really just right handed people trying to get attention. :D

(I like that, I think that is going to be my sig line from now on)
