Hey Folks! Got out to the range both days this weekend for the first time this year and had a blast (literally!). Saturday I was sighting in my varmint AR upper and was I rusty!

So today (Sunday) I went back out with my CZ-452 and shot up about 300 rnds over iron sights. By the last 200 rnds I was shooting the string hanging the tin cans off the target fence in half at 50 yards with regularity then blasting them to pieces.

I feel that shooting a good .22LR, especially one with iron sights, is one of the best ways to improve your accuracy. This got me thinking that it would be cool to get a dedicated .22LR upper for my AR so that I can use the same trigger I hunt with but shoot hundreds of plinking rounds with it for next to no cost.

What's out there that's both affordable and reliable? I don't want a slip-in converter (Ciener?), but a dedicated upper that has a good set of AR-type adjustable peep sights. Any ideas?

I have a Kuehl Arms dedicated upper that accepts a modified Ciener conversion. I love it and bought 4 30 round magazines for it (years ago before they became like Hen's teeth - may the AWB sunset on us all). I know that DPMS, CZ and a couple of other firms also make dedicated uppers. Check with the Arfcom crowd.

I was going to suggest Kuehl Arms, but since I don't want to be a copy cat, I won't.

4v50gary, have your found any other reliable ammo other than that recomended by Ciener. I just recieved a M-4 14.5-16.1 with ciener kit. Any tweeks you know about to make it shoot other brands of ammo?

If you could get a dedicated blowback upper rifled in 1:16 - 22 LR normal IIRC you would be good to go. On the other hand putting a conversion kit on a 1:7 .223 bbl might not be the most accurate. YMMV

Hutt, so far I've shot only Winchester Wildcats & Federal (550 box) out of it. I must have put over 500 rounds through that upper so far but I really haven't tested it with a variety of ammo (since I have to borrow a lower to play with it).
