22lr with McMillan A5 stock

I would love to build a look-a-like to my 308 in 22lr, however I haven't been able to find a 22lr with a McMillan A5 stock.

Texas Brigade Armory seems to be making them now based on a Ruger 77/22.

It looks very nice, but it also costs $2,300. It comes standard with an A1 stock but the website says you can choose any McMillan stock...I don't know if there is an upcharge for the A5 or not.

My 308 rifle (Savage 10FP) and stock cost about $1,000 less than that so I'd feel kind of silly building a 22lr replica of my 308 that cost a grand more.

Does anyone know of any other options out there?
The Ruger 77/22 costs about $800.
The McMillan A5 stock costs about $700.
Texas Brigade Armory did a bunch of upgrades to make the rifle look more like the Remington 700 M40A1...I'm not too particular about that. I just want the A5 stock on an accurate 22lr bolt gun.

I would call McMillan direct and see if they can get you one of their stocks for a .22lr. I know they say some of their competition stocks are available for an Anschutz action as well as a CZ 452 as well as "other" rimfire actions. I would call and see what they can do for you. That said I wouldn't go cheaper than a CZ 452 action to use. I love my Marlin and Savage rimfires and they shoot great but they feel and look cheap. To toss a $200 action in a $700 stock seems a bit off to me. At least the 452 and Ruger actions are built tough and look the part for a top end stock, even if in the end they don't really shoot a ton better than the cheaper options.

I dont think those stocks look all that different than a painted standard stock. If your going for close, but not exact. My suggestion is to buy an accurate (Savage mk2) but cheap .22 and paint it. Literally all can be done for less than 200 easily, and it will shoot with the best of them. If you do your part, it will look nearly as good.

I want it for more than just looks though. I want the same basic feel as my 308 so I can practice with the 22 all day without hurting the wallet.

Since the 308 doesn't recoil at all (especially suppressed and in a heavy stock), shooting the 22lr in a McMillan A5 as well shouldn't feel much different.

I talked with McMillan and they said the only non-single shot rimfires they make a stock for are the Sako Finnfire and the Sako Quad.

I looked into the Sako Quad and it seems like the perfect gun. Especially considering the cost of the stock and scope I'll be putting on this gun...being able to change between 4 calibers would be nice.

However, I've read mixed reviews on the quad. It seems it's a great shooting gun. I think the majority of the bad reviews are based on the price and some say the stock is cheap. But considering I'll be replacing the stock...

Anybody have any experience with the Sako Quad?

Good or bad comments?

I don't think it was a Quad, but the Sako .22 I've handled was extremely nice. Blueing was excellent and fit and finish was good as well. Trigger seems nice but since I didn't shoot it who knows. Overall seemed like a good gun

I haven't been able to find any for sale???

A Sako Quad Heavy Barrel would ideal. I found one with the standard barrel set on impactguns but I haven't been able to find a heavy barrel set.

Anyone know where you can buy them?

I'll have to ask my local gun shop if he can get a hold of them.
