I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had an experience simiilar to the one that I had today. I bought a Savage 93F, synthetic stocked and plain barrel .22mag rife on Monday. I brought it home and put a Nikon scope on it and grabbed a box of CCI 40gr hp ammo off the shelf and took off to the range. Got to the range and had the gun shooting well within just a few minutes. I left the range content that the gun was a fairly good shooter. Fast forward to today...I decided that I would take the gun back to the range to compare it's performance with the CCI to how it would shoot my personal favorite ammo of Wlinchester 40gr hp in the silver box. Upon ariving at the range, I verified that the rifle was still spot on out to 150yds with the CCI and then I started with the Winchester. The results with the Winchester were nothing less than a disaster. Try as I might, I never got the rifle to group the Winchester any bettter than 5" at 100yds...targets looked like a buchshot pattern. My son was along, so we both tried with the result being identical. I know that rimfires can be ammo sensitive, but I have never experienced anything like this. My other mags have a preference for a particular ammo but none of them just refuse to shoot one type ammo with any degree of consistency. I finally just set it back for the CCI and gave up on the Winchester.
Have any of you ever had anything like this happen with a rifle?
