guys, i have a snubbie .22magnum.

right now i have cci maxi mags in it.

what ive noticed is that at close range (all i pratice with it at ), all the rounds seem to tumble threw the targets............. accuracy isnt bad, but id expect a cleaner hole for a bullet not nicking something on the way to the target.......

before i switch ammo for trial and error, i was wondering.............

will a slower, longer heavier bullet, say the 50gr. h.p..ect.... provide more accuarcy?

im guessing that the longer heavier slower bullet will stablize better out of the short tube than the shorter lighter faster round.........

what do you think?

Other way around

Try the 30 gr. Maxi-Mag+V or TNT.

The shorter bullets should stablize better than thr longer 50gr. Gold dot.

ah, so i had it backwards?

ive been using the 40gr. h.p. to split the difference between deep penetration 50gr or shallow 30gr.

any jello tests links available for .22mag snubbie work?

i though about the super fast 30gr. cci maxi mag +V h.p. but figured it would not do that deep.

this gun i use when i go fishing, loaded with snake shot...ect for the snake that gets too close. and when i walk my dog its loaded with regular ammo for that dog that may want to fight with mine or me.

i figure 8 shots of .22magnum in most any conventional load will ruin a mean dogs day. besides my dog is an AmStaff. not likely to loose a fight anyway.

I shot the 50 grain federals through guns ranging froma 4" bbl AmT- 9.5" single six a few years ago. They did not expand and they did tumble end over end. The new hyper velocity light bullets loads like the Federal and winchester Western supreme may expand from a snub. It takes pretty significant barrel lenght to get any expansion from the old CCI Maxi-mag or the WW 40 grain hp.
