.243 Handi Rifle accuracy?

I seen these little rifle's in Gander Mountain for $149.99.I was thinking of buying one of these as an extra deer rifle.It will mostly be used with in 150 yards and less on deer.I was wondering if anyone had one and what kind of accuracy they had with this little rifle.

Handi rifle in .243

The .243 is the absolute most finicky caliber in these rifles accuracy wise.The best shooting and most accurateones are the 30-30 and the 45/70.

I agree I had a 243 handi briefly. The thing was infurating, one day you would shoot 1" groups and the next you'd get 5" patterns with the same load.

^^I read very similar thing's said about this caliber.I just thought I would see what other people had to say about it.If this is what kind of accuracy most people have had,I won't buy one.

I had one and it shot OK, but nothing to write home about. I agree with the above poster handis are best suited to milder rounds if accuracy is a main criteria

In entry level hunting rifles the Stevens 200 is the biggest bang for your buck really a smoking deal.

Had a pair of .243 Handi Rifles, and they were pretty accurate little rifles as long as you used solid ammo. Tried some cheap stuff like S&B and did not get very good results at all. With Winchester powerpoints or silvertips I got about 1 1/2 moa, a little bigger groups with Remmy CL.

.243 Handi Accuracy

I have a .243 Handi Rifle with the SB2 Barrel. Mine will shoot a dime size group at 100 yards with this load:

Fed 210M primers
IMR4064 Powder
35 Gr Powder
Horady Bullets
100 Grain
PN 2453 Interlock
.010 off rifling

This is an excellent round in my rifle. I've found that Nosler Ballistic Tips are not real accurate in the .243

Sounds to me like a "too much coffie day" symptom! I had my NEF .243 for quite a while, and shot many different loads through it. The best was Hornady "Light Magnum". Very consistant 1.75 moa max. (I am not a very steady shot, so I know thr rifle could do better! ) Still, 1 3/4" at 100 yards is OK to me. Just my own personal experiance .02 here. By the way, mine had a wood stock and bull barrell. (Just in case you were looking at the same Synthetic stocked Superlight model that I am right now.)
