I hope I'm back! ;) Loved the previous Chuck Hawks Forum. I was a member till this new forum, that I hope solves some apparently previous problems. Chuck's value of the .243 Winchester caliber always paralleled my own. As a military round or for just plain accuracy shooting or for a deadly hunting devise, a .243 Winnie Pooh presents the most-recoil-pleasing, effective ticket. No, it's not my only ticket, but its just so great up to 300 yards. From 105 Grain Speers to 62 Grain Barnes, what a versitile firearm: Mule Deer, Black Bear, Gray Wolf, Timber Wolf, Whitetail Deer, down to Coyote, Prairie Rat, Woodchuck (Marmot), and my very favorite FERAL HOGS. I have created .243 Winchester loads for each mentioned scenario. :D Cliffy

If you like .243 and handload, you ought to love 6mm Remington. It's the Winnie Pooh's meaner brother :D!

PS: I've seen my share of dead deer that fell to a .243

Pft. Real men shoot .50 BMGs.

Unfortunately, I'm too poor to be a real man :(

though the 6 milly is the king, it just doesn't have the factory loads for us lazies. If there were a few diff loads out there, I'm sure it would be as popular as the 243. Now then, I also luuuuuvvvve the 243, and if you have the best rifles ever for it, either the remmy 788's, or a 600/660/mohawk, then you may want to marry a 243, even though it is inanimate.
