My one remaining high power rifle is a Ruger M77 in .25-06. I bought it new years ago and have fired maybe two boxes of factory ammo. I live in a rural area where the onlyammo available is from a neighbor who is a competent reloader. He loads .270, .30-06, 7mm Mag and.300 Ultra Mag. There is no factory .25-06 sold for 200 miles. So,I got to thinking I ought to recut this rifle to .270. My question is should I just send it to a competent gun smith to re-cut that barrel and the chamber or just cut the chamber and have a new barrel installed>? I have never done this before and could use some advice./
