Hello all,
I have some .257 100 gn. Speer Varmint Hollow points that I want to load up for my 25-35 WFC. I cant find any load data for this bullet in the 25-35, the closest thing that comes to it is 25-35 load data for the Hornady 110 gn. FTX. Does anyone think that this would be a good starting point using the lower powder charges. Or does anyone have experience using this projectile in the 25-35? Thanks for all comments.

A while back I had a handful of 100 gr. Nosler Partitions left over that I loaded for my M94 just to use them up. I used my 117 gr. load; 25-35 load data is pretty sparse and you may have to improvise a little when you stray off of the standard paths. Starting with the 110 FTX data sounds reasonable to me.

I assume you have a lever gun and you'll be single-loading these?

I loaded one in the chamber with round noses in the magazine. I'm not sure that there is much advantage to using spire points in an iron sighted lever gun. If you have a 25-35 Contender that might be a different story. My 25-35 varmint load used the 60 gr. Hornady flat point over a light load of IMR 4895. It was decently accurate and effective on groundhogs at iron sight ranges.

I actually shot a deer with one of the partitions. I was helping my dad track a doe that he had shot and it jumped up 10 yards from us. I threw a snap shot and hit her high in the shoulder. She ran another 40 or 50 yards before dropping but was going towards the truck so all was good.

Correct, should have specified that in my OP.

I have an old model 94 Winchester. And yea I’ll be loading two at a time at most, one in the tube and one in the Chamber.

The Hollow points should be ok but I would never take the chance with my 25-35.
