A few YouTube channels I subscribe to are starting to get barrels and ammo from SRC for testing and evaluation. Newer calibers always intrigue me, especially in the AR platform. I know this round has been in the works for quite some time, some threads on THR going back to 2011.

It seems interesting, mainly for hunting small to medium game in my eyes. There are some great hunting projectiles out there in .257. I'd like to see how it stacks up to .223 and 300 BLK down range.

It's kind of nice to see, what I think, a hunting round come out for the modern Sporting Rifle.

What does everyone think? Just a fad or here for a while?

I stumbled across the .25-45 Sharps a month or so ago ... I like the .25 caliber and have been reading up when I saw your thread ... I have searched for data but have not found anything except to use 6x45 data as a starting point .... I am sure data will begin to surface pretty soon as the barrels get out into the hands of more folks ... I'll be watching closely ....

It pretty much put the 250 Savage into the AR rifle .... lots of critters killed with a 250 Savage...

I looked to see what development might have come along in the smallbore BPCR and find another AR gimmick. It grates on my nerves to have automatics made with a Sharps trademark. They may be fine rifles but it just ain't right.

Not to mention the fact that the name itself mixes millimeters and inches. The cartridge itself is sort of interesting though, an 87gr pill at 3,000 fps isn't too shabby.

I think an 87gr at 3000fps might be a bit optimistic considering what guys shooting the 25-223 report. If you want 250 Savage power in an AR15 step up to the 25x6.8. It can't give quite the same performance with 100gr bullets (2600fps in 25-223, 2850fps in 25x6.8 vs 3000fps in my 250Sav), but it will run an 87gr at 3100fps all day long.

I just took those numbers from the Sharps Rifle Co. Ammunition sales page. I suppose they could be lying about their new product, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. If the cartridge will send an 87gr bullet down range at 3k fps, it should do even better with the 80gr TTSX.

I plotted those numbers next to a .223 with with a 55 gr V-Max starting at 3240 fps, very similar. I'm curious to see range reports from these testers out there.

I'd rather see an evaluation from a YouTube channel than a gun magazine. Gun mags seems to make everything out like it's the only thing out there.

I saw that on their website as well. I doubt they are lying, it just seems too good to be true.

I think the 80 TTSX wouldn't gain much, if any, over the 87gr Speer. The extra bullet length will cut into the powder capacity which is already at a premium in the small case. I still need to get my hands on some to test.

I don't care for the name, it sounds like it should be an old rimmed round for a lever-rifle, like a .25-35 Winchester or something.

I do like the concept though I think it would be more useful than .300 AAC BLK as long as you didn't need to shoot subsonic.

I'm surprised that .25 caliber isn't more popular. There are already some great .25 cal cartridges that I rarely hear people talking about, like .257 Roberts for example or even .25-06

I wonder what this round would be like with a heavy bullet? Like a 100gr or even a 120gr?

Got to say this .25-45 round sounds interesting. Will have to look into it more but definitely feel it has potential.
