A .25 auto is still a gun, no matter if its not the macho fire belching gun of the month in whatever gun magazine you worship at. It's killed plenty of people over the years, too many to be accident.
If you like it fine, carry it. If you don't, hey it s a free country. The origianl poster should be fine with a .25 jetfire in his pocket. Most crimes get stopped at the mere presence of a firearm. Like the first rule of gunfights- have a gun. If a person is very comfortable with a particular gun, then he should carry it. Some of us like vanilla ice cream, some chocolate. Matter of taste.
Too often these kind of posts turn into a "I'd rather have a sharp stick" kind of thing, which is too bad. There's a nitch for everything. Just because it is a .45 dosen't mean its going to work well either. This month, the December issue of the American Rifleman has a blub in the Armed Citizen collum sabout a person using a .45 and shooting a suspect several times and having the suspect run off. He was later cought. So much for the magic knock down power of the .45. Last summer the Armed Citizen had a blub about a man coming to the aid of a police officer who was on the ground with a suspect on top of him. The officer had already shot the man with a .40, and the citizen shot the suspect with a .45 with no effect. He then shot him in the head and killed the suspect.
I know a lady, friend of my better half, who has carried a little Baby Browning for over 25 years. She's in her mid 40's, divorced, and quite a looker. Can do a Heather Lockleer stand in. Since she gets alot of attention, theres been three times an assault on her has been stopped in the last 15 years we've known her. She's made subtle alterations to her dresses so she can have her little Baby .25 right on her instead of a purse. Each time some dirtbag has tried to have a go at her, the .25 has stopped all three would be assaults right there. When I gently sugested a bigger gun, she showed me how she carries her's and said find her one as small. I gave in, she had a point. It works for her.
Some people like to drive a big SUV or truck, others don't have a problem driving a Honda civic. Whatever works will do just fine. Knowing what you're doing with your gun of choice is way more important than what gun you are using. Who would you rather have to deal with, Bob Mundan with a .25, or a gang banger with a tech 9 held sideways?
