I recently got a chance to fire a few rounds through my savage 270 .Ive owned it for 25 years or so and Its been sitting in the gun cabinet collecting dust. I was surprised at my groups using some hornady superformance ammo i bought for deer hunting .My groups were maybe softball size at 100 yards holding pretty steady not bench resting.I wasn't expecting to be spot on the target since its been a while and i think it was sited in originally with remington 130 gr coreloks.I decided to try some loads i had worked up and had a golf ball size three shot group(130 gr nosler bt with 52.5 grains of imr 4831)looks like this might be my new hunting load.As most will tell you this savage won't win any beauty contest but it will shoot!

I love my savage 116 stainless/ synthetic most accurate rifle I have. I was using 130 grain Nosler Partition in mine over a very similar load my rifle liked those bullets. It didn’t like Speer Grand Slams at all. Oddly enough it loved Remington 130 grain core lokt.

For years, I couldn’t improve on Remington Corlokt accuracy in my .270’s. Then I started loading Speer Grand Slams over IMR 4350 and varying the seating depth and came up with a good combination.

The only thing my 270 is fed is 130s and IMR 4831. I prefer a bit stouter, but if you have found your load, do not be swayed! Enjoy.

My favorite round. 270 130gr Accubond. Any 130 gn bullet will work fine as long as you know it will do what you want. I have loaded for 4-5 different 270's. All hunting rifles. And they all seem to like the same powder. H-4831. I've loaded for a 2 Mossbergs, couple of Remington 700's, Savage I think ( friends) and my Cooper. There was another Walmart something or other. Every single one was well under 1 MOA from mid range powder charge on up. My Cooper pokes bug holes if I pay attention. And it uses the least amount of powder. I'm not about speed.
52+ grains seems low but if it's shooting well enjoy the 270.

I'm another one that has had good luck with the 130 grain Speer Hotcor. For powder I have been using Hogdon hybrid 100V. My wife and son both hunt with this combo out of their Savage 110's.

My Old Steyr MOD M shot extremely well with Nosler 130BTs and 58.0 grns IMR 4831 at 3130 FPS out of it's 23.6" barrel

My new Nolser M48 shoots also shoots the Nosler 130 BTs (3162FPS) and 130 ABs (3174 FPS) using H4831 out of it's 24" barrel at just under and slightly over 60 grains.
