I just wanted to post some results I got from a "new to me" load in my 270.
The load is 59.5 gr of RL 26 under a Speer 150 BTSP, CCI LR Primer, Win Brass, OAL 3.30.
I shot 3 rounds over the chrono, and 3 rounds at a target that was approx. 325 yards away.
Shot them from my Rem 700 BDL with a 22" barrel. These loads pack a pretty good kick, far greater recoil than anything I've shot in this rifle.
I was pretty impressed with the velocity of the 3 rounds: 2955, 2940 and 2942.
On the target I was impressed as well, not sub MOA, but the group was 4" wide and about 10" low.
My rifle is sighted in to be dead on at 100 yards with 130 grain bullet.
The reason I developed this load is I'm hoping to put some elk meat in the freezer. I'm going to put in for an anterless and spike only permit for the fall of 2020.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the terminal performance of the Speer 150 BTSP?
