The first rifle I bought was a 10/22. I no longer have it but now I'm considering the purchase. I like the WMR option. How much more doe$ it co$t? Anyhow, is the barrel band a variable? Talk to me about what you think the best factory set up is. I like the contoured but plate and the SS hardware. I like it around 4#. Sell me a 10/22. I almost there again.THNX

The 10/22M in .22 mag was dropped about a couple of years ago. Low demand at the time.

Since it's demise, there has since been a huge demand from people (like me) converting them to be reliable .17 HMR guns. Ruger's .17HMR (based off of the 10/22M) never saw the day of light despite being advertised. Ruger couldn't or wouldn't completely fix the problems with the gun. (They made one attempt with a second inside extractor but it didn't help much.)

When the 10/22M was offered, it was going for ~$350. Since it being dropped and the demand from converters, NIB guns, when one can be found, will go for at least $500. With its steel receiver (as opposed to the regular 10/22's aluminum), keeping it down to 4# will be nearly impossible. My lowest weight 10/22M-.17HMR (Bulter Creek plastic stock) is ~9.5# with scope.
