Okay wheelgun gurus, who can tell me what about the new toy I just traded for today?... all I knew when I saw it is that I wanted it... :D

Blued S&W model 29-4 in .44 magnum, unfluted cylinder, 3-inch barrel, hammer-mounted firing pin, original S&W/Hogue rubber monogrip and a set of beautiful hand-signed Spegel boots.
This baby is pretty good shape, just a bit of cylinder ring... and some droll which I promptly wiped off.
I'm happy, but curious to learn a little more about my new object of affection. Any help would be appreciated, I'll try to get a pic up tonight if anyone wants to see. Thanks.

some special run 3 inch 29's were made for distributors such as lew horton...
also...check out such custom work as it done by www.magnaport.com (look for his photo gallery of custom guns he does, including 3 inch N frames)
and are several excellent pistolsmiths who do such work such as
pinnacle...tenringprecision...tkcustom... can check a list of highly qualified pistolsmiths through the american pistolmsith guild...
you have a fine weapon there...if the crown is good and the action slick...
loaded with some light magnums or some heavy specials it should be a lot of fun...enjoy.

There was a run made in 1989 for Lew Horton that had the unfluted cylinder. You could have one of those. They had a .500 target hammer and a .400 serrated target trigger. Also a full lug. But, they came with Pachmayr SKGR grips. All this info comes from the SCSW. Hope this helps... I have a Lew Horton 3" M29 with a fluted cylinder, made in '85, and I can tell you this... it's great! One of the very few guns I have that is NOT for sale!

These are great guns from the "Gun-of-the-week" era of the early 90s. They came with Pachmayr grips that I immediately threw away. I have two; one stock and one highly modified. Neither is for sale.
