I know this is a compromise powder/bullet combination, but does anyone have a decent load for 175 grain match bullets with Reloader 22 for a 30-06?

I have Speer data for 180 grain SP, starting at 55 grains, with a 59 grain max. Alliant data goes up to 62 grains with a 180 SP.

Since the bullets a little lighter, I was planning to start with 57 grains.

Any load work with this powder and a similar bullet?

I have shot RL22 with the 190gr Sierra MatchKing bullet in the .30-06 for many years. With Lapua or LC M72 Match brass I use 60.7gr for 2900fps. With Norma brass I use 61.3gr to reach 2900fps. While this info is not about the 175gr bullet, it does give you an idea about possible charge weights. Hope that helps.

As a matter of interest, my "standard" hunting load uses a Nosler 180 (either a Partition or Ballistic Tip) in Winchester brass with a Winchester large rifle primer and 61.0 grains of RL-22. MV is a little over 2700 ft/sec out of my M70's 22" barrel - less than what USSR is getting, but my rifle has a "slow" barrel since factory loads have always - always! - given about 200 ft/sec short of the manufacturer's claims.

This load was max. in the Nosler manual, and 1 grain under an earlier Speer manual, and even in hot weather gives no sign of excess pressure in my rifle.

With a bullet 5 grains lighter, you should be fine as long as you're not using a gasgun like a Garand.

Thanks. It looks like I have some room to play with. I may start closer to 60 grains. I just need to decide what increments to load at for testing.

The load data on Nosler's website gives some of the highest velocities for 165gr and 180gr bullets using RL22. I've always wondered if you really can push a 165gr to 3000 fps out of a normal length barrel using that powder, but I've never tried it.
