.30-06 Mauser prices?

I'm going to a gun show this weekend looking for a Mauser action .30-06 (surplus springfield, enfield style etc.)

What would you consider a decent deal? I don't want to spend more than $150 & I may consider trading a Marlin 336 .30-30.

I think you'll have a hard time with a budget of $150. You used to be able to get P17 enfields for that but I haven't seen one of those for less than $250 for quite awhile.

If you don't have your heart set on a mauser and 30-06 you can get 30-06 ballistics and a bolt action in the form of a Mosin plus a bunch of ammo for practice in your price range. I picked up a Mosin M44 for $89 two weeks ago and I've seen tins of ammo (400 rounds) for $69.

You'll need about two to four times that much to get either a Springfield or an Enfield.

Note that "sporterized" rifles are much cheaper than rifles in original condition. So take heed -- if you get a Springfield or Enfield in original condition, leave it in original condition.
