I am fielding a Remington 760 in 30-06 this weekend for opening weekend deer. The last several years have been split between a 6.5x55 and a .243 and before that a .270. But I got tired of worrying all the time about messing up my nice rifles so I bought a Remingto 760 from 1965 in 30-06 out of a pawn shop. I put a Leopold 3x9 on it. Perfect field gun.
My only experience with a 30-06 is with one of the field guns on the family farm. It is a mid seventies model 70 that I have shot only a few times and never set it up. But they keep 150 grain Core Lokts zeroed at 200.
I screwed up my set up last night as I was sighting it in at the indoor tube. I started out with a lot of problems with the old Weaver mounts and by the time I replaced them my time was up. Fortunately the employee got me back in just before closing(nice guys at Bass Pro) and with 6 bullets and 5 minutes I had it sighted in with 180 grain Core Lokts zeroed at 100 yards.
With rain all day today and tomorrow that is what I am going with.
So, to my question, I am trying to find trajectory patterns for that setup online but surprisingly have had no luck. My shot will probably be in the 175 to 250 range unless I get lucky. So I come to THR for help. Can anyone provide me with that info or point me in the right direction?
Appreciate all responses.
