3 inches high at 100 and 6 inches low at 200. At 200 it was 4" 3 shot group.
what do you think?

made with my 30 year old new to me win mod 94 with a 20" barrel.

THESE RUSULTS SOUND PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE TO ME.

I have always believed the 30/30 to be a most viable hunting cartridge out to 150 yards and stretching it to 200 yards could be done in a pinch.
Now, for rock busting in the Rockies my pals and I have hit stuff out to 800 yards [ or so the GEOVID said ] once we got the range and 300 to 500 yards was pretty easy actually. NO, THIS DOES NOT MAKE THE 30/30 A 500 YARD HUNTING GUN !!! Remember, we were rock busting and nothing more.

Iron sights or a scope?

I don't recall getting six inches of drop at 200.. but 3-4 seems about right.

You shooting 150 or 170 gr ammo?

Hmm. According to Chuck Hawks' excellent site (http://www.chuckhawks.com/index2.guns.htm):
Set up a scoped .30-30 so that the Winchester Supreme 150 grain factory load strikes dead on at 200 yards and the trajectory looks like this: +3.3 inches high at 100 yards, +2.8 at 150 yards, 0 at 200 yards, -5.7" at 250 yards, and -14.7" at 300 yards

Sounds like the drop at 200 is a lot.

I have a 12" gong hung at 475 yards at my private range. I friend of mine from church came out to shoot with me one day to shoot his scoped .30-30 and wanted to try shooting the gong as a lark. He held waaaaaaay high and squeezed the trigger and hit the gong. He could not do it again to save his life, but it sure makes a good story!

I've done it several times.

But it was a Savage Model 340, with a 3-9x scope, using my Nosler 120gr Ballistic Tip .30-30 handloads. My ex-wife has the rifle now, there was never any real discussion after she methodically exploded gallon milk jugs full of refrigerated Jell-O at 200 yards with it. So yes, the .30-30 isn't too shabby. :D

I got my last deer at 200+ yards. The first two shots went completely under the deer. It was still standing broadside to me, so I aimed a bit above the deer and the third round found it's mark. I think I'll leave that distance to a 30.06 next year!

My longest .30/30 shot on a white-tail was 176 Yds, with the Rem 170-Gr core-lokt bullet.

Thought I had missed, 'cause Bambi Sr. just stood there for about 10 seconds before going down like the proverbial 'sack of spuds'.

238 long steps...

Winchester 94 with the same brand 150 grain Silvertips; target was a nice forkhorn buck, with the rifle rested on a wheat-field terrace. Bullet centered the shoulders, and knocked a chunk of bone about the size of nickel upon exit. Deer didn't go three steps.

I had fitted the rifle with a Williams Foolproof peep that year, and a fine front post. I also shot it quite a bit to 200 yards with the aforementioned ammo, before I took it hunting. You groups are just fine at the distance you're shooting.

Prone, I have hit within a 6" circle, three for three at the 200 yard range, with my Winchester 94 many times. I have an XO ghost ring, threaded to accept a Williams peep site, and that made a big difference. I held about 6" high, and I think I was using 150 grain commercial loads.
