30-30 Hollow Points

Saw these on the Winchester site. I haven't tried them but they look pretty good. Also don't know if still in production. I'll stick with my cast loads - have too many other rifles that use pricy bullets.

I bought the only three hamr down boxes of 30-30 I've ever seen at whalmart. Like 37 bucks each, in my emergency stash. If the boy wants to hunt with the thirty I'll break them out.

If you say so, I won't argue, however all the times I used 150 Core-Loks have done the job very well.
That comment could be quantified by saying in hollow points, or in bullets designed to fragment, or bullets which expand. In solids, cast bullets and controlled expansion bullets I don't think that will hold water.... absolutes in reloading are just ripe for disproval.

They have a BT version but the flat base have a higher BC and may not seat as deep.

Pay close attention to the product item number.
There are two versions of the .308” 160gr FTX.

One has a Blount nose profile for the .30/30win. And, the cannelure is positioned for the .30/30.

The other is intended for the .308MarlinExpress and .300Savage. It looks like the bullet pictured.

I’ve got both. Haven’t shot a deer with the .30/30 version.
The .308ME version expands readily and penetrates well.

re: 150gr Remington Corlokt Round Nose: they expand readily due to the nose profile and thin forward jacket with the scalloped cut. It penetrates well due to the double tapered jacket and heel lock.( hence the Corlokt name) They also are only running about 150fps faster than the factory 170gr Corlokts I’ve chronographed. Both are equally accurate.
My preference is for the 170’s because I can load them up to the same velocities as the factory 150’s (2,250fps from a 20”bbl.) They are particularly well engineered to match the .30/30 cartridge.
Too bad that Remington doesn’t sell the unloaded component bullets anymore.

Thanks. Corrected the product number in first listed. 30-30 BT has lower BC than the Rem flat base bullet.

MidwayUSA has several types of 150 grain flat nose 30-30 bullets in stock and if you really want, they also has a Triple Shock Hollow Point.
I think modern flat nose bullets for 30-30 are excellent game stoppers and that you should consider them too.

Does anyone know of anyone that makes a current 150-170 .30 caliber flat hollow point component bullet that’s suitable for .30-30 lever actions? I’m looking for something similar to the Remington Core Lokt 30-30 hollow point commercial loads.
I have not seen a traditional HP bullet for a 30-30 in awhile. Barnes had a copper solid HP, you may check that. They looked very gnarly. Don't know how they perform though.

Not hollow point.

But close enough.

Great price.

I bought one box. Not many left.
