Is this a good price for a used SP101? I recently handled a ruger and am thinking of changing my mind over the J-Frame.

It is an EXCELLENT price, for any model, assuming it is in solid mechanical condition of course - just use the revolver checkout procedure at the top of the revolver forum. The cheapest used SP101 I've ever seen was a $370 2 1/4" .357 Magnum.

Just curious, what barrel length and caliber is it?

As I said, it sounds to me like a good buy if it works fine.

That is a great deal. As others have said, it should be in good shape since it is built solid like a rock.

That is what I paid for my 3" 357 SP101 a couple months ago. It had a few signs of use in the finish, but a rub down with a scotchbrite pad made it look great. Plus, it's previous use had smoothed out the trigger.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a 2" 357 model, that's all I know right now as I haven't seen it. Judging by the guy who's selling it (a SWAT guy), I'm guessing its in good shape. I can't wait till sunday to check it out!

SP 101's

I have the chance to buy a NIB 2 1/4" 357 for $400,with all the papers. I have seen the same gun in stores and gun shows for about $475, but this is from a friend and I would save the taxes. Still a good deal???

For 3 bills you should run to get the SP-101, they're $350.00+ around here for used models when you can find them.

Yes. $400 divided over the 5 lifetimes that the SP101 will last, equals $80 per lifetime. Not bad for a gun your great great great grandchildren will still be shooting.

Just came from the local gunshop they had one NIB for $440 and a unfired used one for $409. Those are sticker prices of course but $300 sounds like a great deal if it checks out ok.
