Savage 99A - 26 inch bbl. Chambered in .303 Savage. I have a box of factory 190 grn. cartridges.
The rifle is actually .308" diameter. This case is a tad larger capacity than the 30-30 WCF is supposedly a clone of. I can begin with data bk loadings for the 30-30 and work up. Has anyone experience loading this particular round? I'm considering 150 to 175 grain spitzers and IMR 3031 or Varget. Deer only.

The August 2019 issue of Handloader has an article on the .303 Savage. It doesn't give much is the way of history, they want you to look at older issues for that. It does give loads for some of the more modern powders.
I tried Trailboss with Berry's coated 150gr in my 99 TD. I read where RNs cycle better than pointed. The Berry's are a flat point and they cycle with no issue. Makes a nice plinking round.
