.308 Ammo warning, corrosive!

Simply pour hot water down the barrel (gas plug out to drain any seepage/then hot water-wetted mop in the gas tube)
The clean/oil as usual.
(I suggest THIS final spray thoroughly.)

Always keep in mind euro ammo standards are less than ours! If it's made overseas as a general rule it is!

"Back in the day", guys used Spic-and-Span in water to clean rifle bores after firing corrosive ammo.

Slamfire above gives a great description of how to clean the bore. I've done this after firing known corrosive ammo.

On non-corrosive ammo, I clean the barrel on the second day. Why? Because residues get blown into micro-cracks in the steel of barrels. So, you get back from the range and clean your rifle. It's all shiny and clean ... except that on day #2, you look and it is dirty again. How can that be?! By day #2, the barrel has totally cooled / shrank back, squeezing the crud out of the micro-cracks. While firing last week the barrel of one of my rifles got so hot it would fry human skin.

Wow. I immed. recognized the words as Polish,

And watch for whichever vintage of Lake City M2 Ball. Know who you can ask about it.

I used incorrect —online— info years ago and partly-trashed the Bore of an excellent condition Garand from the CMP.

A guy retired from the Navy Rifle Team told me that it —was— one of the better M-1s he had handled.

Follow up, the company that sold the ammo said they would take care of the issue.

Owner cleaned it up, took it to the range and the rifle ran flawlessly. Didn't blame them, said he would keep the rifle as is.

And this is the problem with some foreign made ammo, most ammo made for military contracts will be corrosive primers, I'm told it's a longer shelf life. So any factory may have a few crates of it around, even if they're also making non-corrosive for civilian sale. Maybe it's a mistake, maybe it's just something they sneak in if that's all they have.
I've bought both Wolf 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 and gotten a batch of corrosive rounds that were advertized as non-corrosive. Wolf is just an importer, they don't make their own no who knows what factory it came from.
I shoot a lot of surplus Yugo m67 and 7n6 thru ARs & AKs and just flush em with a bunch of hot soapy water and re-lube with Ballistol. And if I don't know where it came from, I treat it like corrosive.
