I ordered a set of dies to reload 32 H&R Magnums for my brother. I had actually purchased a set of new Lee carbide 32 S&W Long dies from Midway. Can I use this set of dies for the 32 H&R Magnum?

On MidwayUSA, I see that RCBS, Hornady, & Lyman all list the same dies for 32 SW and 32 Magnum. They list two separate dies though for Lee. I assume it is the same as the .38 Special/.357 Magnum dies, where you just back out the powder expanding and bullet seating dies a few extra turns to get the correct length.

I was running a test case and screwed up the first piece of brass :banghead:, that's how I knew something was wrong. I had ordered the dies back in March, and am finally getting around to making some rounds up for him.

I use a Lee .32 Long set to load both .32 Long and .32 Mag. Yes, it's just like the .38 Spl/ .357 Mag thing. They can be used to load .327 Federal as well.

Thanks guys, I was pretty sure that the dies were suitable for 32 H&R Mag. Appreciate you taking the time to verify it.

I'm loading up some 100 gr. RN from Missouri. Have Unique, W231, and HS-6 powders. Chime in if you have a favorite charge for one of these powders. None of my sources have this exact bullet weight, but close enough to get me some starting loads.

Off to reset the dies.

The Lee dies should be the same.
Any .32 S&W Long die set should also load .32 H&R and .327 Ruger with a simple die adjustment.

The difference is the powder scoop & load data included with the dies is different in the two calibers.

Loading .32 H&R with a 100 grain cast bullet.
Starting & MAX LOAD Data from the Lyman #47 manual.

Bullseye = 2.0 - 3.5
Red Dot = 2.0 - 3.5
Unique = 2.7 - 4.2
W231 = 2.2 - 3.7

And in less time than it takes to get my dies adjusted RC comes through with the load data that I need. :p Thank you very much sir.

I have the Lyman 48th manual, but it doesn't have that bullet weight. The Lee reloading manual and handloads.com are right in that ball park as well.
