Came across a small pile of 32 special that were gifted to me by a friend.

I have no use for 32 special rounds, especially ones that by his account belonged to his father ( who is in his 80's ) as a teen.

The shells are in fairly good condition, although some of them do exhibit a waxy green verdigris that flakes off with a fingernail scratching leaving gleaming brass underneath.

My question is this : Is it possible given the striking similarity of the 32 special to the .30-30 ( its parent cartridge) to break down the rounds, dispose of the powder primers and bullets, and then resize the brass for use in .30-30?

I guess the real question is : Is there a way to make the neck width go away :)

Awesome.

Where does the other 20 thousandths or so of neck width go ? should I be aware of shoulder growth, etc ????

But that .32 WS ammo should find a .32 WS home and in return get you some properly headstamped .30 WCF brass.

Well there is a story to all this.:D
Some years ago I acquired a 32 SPL and every one else had a 30-30. I necked up some 30-30 brass to 32 SPL and loaded it. A short time later a couple of cousins complained that they came over to my house and "borrowed" (w/o permission) some ammo from me and that junk would not fit the 30-30. At least the didn't borrow the rifle too as I would have never seen that again either.:fire: Later by some years I had given the 32 SPL to my brother and found some brass (200 or so) and happened to need some 30-30 brass so I sized it down and reloaded it for the 30-30. At the same aprox time one of the same cousins was hunting with our group. He has a borrowed 32 SPL from someone else and asks my GF where the ammo is and helps himself to it again.:banghead: He is out hunting and sees a deer, shoots at it and misses. That evening he shows me the borrowed rifle and ammo he grabbed and says he shot 5 rounds to try it after missing the deer and it does not even hit near where he aimed. Claims I load junk ammo.:D I never told him the difference about it as he never asked me either time if he could have any ammo and I don't want him stealing any more.

Moral to this story. Lock up your firearms and ammo and do not loan any of it out. Any one came to my house "family encluded" and "borrowed" my firearms, tools, wife, or anything else I owned, they better be good explaining to the cops, cause it will be reported.

And NO I do not loan out my vehicles either.
