After much deliberation, I stopped at the local dealer today and told him to order me one. I am very satisfied with my 5" 625, so I am confident that the Nightguard will be a positive addition to my collection. Can't wait to get my mitts on it! Anyone else have one yet? I'll get some pix up after I take delivery.

As soon as Smith sells these with out the lock and lowers their crazy prices I will own one also.:(

Hmmm... Not a favorable review. I was looking at the 329 myself, I prefer the large caliber .44 and then load it down it I want to practice. I think it would be a cool gun to have, not one I would want to shoot all day but a nice carry gun none the less. I may still go for it.

If you listen to the podcast you will see that I hated to hear the bad news.. however.. Joe stated that it was a personal preference. The things he deemed negative were not of concern for me. I want a 327 and will get one the first opportunity.

I picked up a 327 yesterday. I hope to get it to the range tomorrow. One question though, why do they only install the front night sight and not the rear?

I don't care for them. A snubby should never have a front sight that tall. If they make a version with lower profile front sight, then I'll change my mind. Also, they come with the frame notched for adjustable rear target sights but with low profile fixed sights screwed down in that notch. That's just silly and waste of money.

I friggin' love my 396 Night Guard. It carries well IWB and shoots very well too. My only gripe was the oversized rubber grip. That was easily fixed with some rosewood stocks and a T-Grip.

Loomis - The front sights are tall but sight acquisition is so much faster with that setup than with the kind found on say a 442 or 36.

Davevand, you asked:

"One question though, why do they only install the front night sight and not the rear?"

To save $10. it seems. The sight used is a Cylinder and Slide product available with or without dots.

Scroll down to "CS123" and "CS123D" - the D is for dots....http://www.cylinder-slide.com/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=catshow&ref=SWsights

Some people like to have only the front sight an enhanced visibility version, but there's no choice available from S&W is there?

How's the recoil? I think I prefer a heavier gun, especially in 45 ACP.

I've got the similar 325TR with the 4" barrel and recoil seems a non-issue. The two pound revolver seems right at home with standard ammo - I haven't tried any hot-rodded stuff in it yet.

Recoil is much more noticeable than in my 5" 625. Not uncontrollable by any means, but I'm not going to run 200 consecutive rounds thru it any time soon.
