Hello...any of you out there that have an older model Browning BAR in 338 win mag should pay close attention to this load, as I've tried dozens of loads that wouldn't shoot less than 4 inches at 100 yards (and I modestly consider myself an outstanding shooter), but this one was magic....Brass trim 2.49, 72.0 of IMR 4831, 200 gr nosler accubond at 3.3 COL, CCI250, rem brass!!!! Shot less than an inch and from what I read, this is very tough to come by with these Browning BARs, especially the older ones.

I don't have an older one, rather an about six year old lightweight. Gun shoots extremely well with IMR 4350 and 225 accubonds.....I stoke those rounds with 70 grains and easily get less than an inch at a hundred.

I also found that mine shoots excellent groups with 200 gr. Hornady #3310s.....again 4350 with two grains more. My impression was that it shot slightly better with these than the accubonds, but that just might have been me on that day. I've found the caliber an easy one to load and the BAR design well done. Own two '06s, one older version and my real favorite, the 20" carbine lightweight..........surprisingly accurate, that latter.

yeah from what I read, people either love the BARs or hate em. I did have mine jam on me while shooting at an elk on the run; i'm not too upset with it because I ended up hitting the elk on the shot before it jammed, ultimately killing it, but still a good lesson to keep em clean.
