I bought this new in 1986 for considerably less than either in the OPs post. Its a great revolver, shoots straight and absolutely gorgeous to look at. I've bought and sold many since I bought it but it has and will remain.

CZHEN, r u talking about the DA or SA trigger in your DW, because the 2 DW revolvers I've had were Mediocre DA triggers, and both Monson, Ma. Far better triggers in typical SW, by the SA triggers were good but not sensational.

On my DW the SA is pretty nice, I would say a tad better than my 617 in 22 lr.

I'm not exactly sure why the picture is upside down sorry but in another related thread someone identified my pistol as the 15 - 2.
Can anyone confirm this and how do I know when I look at another?
It does have the vent rib on the Shroud it's on the and adjustable sights an interchangeable front sights. But there's no marking saying 15 anywhere on it.
Also is it correct that regardless of whether it's a 14, 15, or 15-2 that I can get pretty much any Dan Wesson revolver replacement barrels and shrouds for it?
Does it matter at all whether the shrouds are vent rib or not?

Yes it is a 15-2. It doesn't matter whether the shroud is vented or not. Be sure to check it once in a while to make sure it's tight and do not over tighten it or it will become nearly impossible if not impossible to remove. The best knowledge base for Dan Wesson's is: https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/
My favorite gun is a 15-2 and it's also the most accurate handgun I have. Doing a trigger job is easy and you can get Wolff springs for it also. Be sure to not take off much metal if you do a trigger job, only a smoothing of the surface. It is only surface hardened.
