I'm looking for a Lever Action Rifle in .357 Magnum/.38 Special for around $400, it needs to have a carbine length barrel and the $400 price is for used in good condition I'd spend $500 for NIB.

Have you been living in a cave? They have been very popular for 20 years. Yes, Rossi makes a nice rifle/carbine along with many more makers....chris3

Winchester made the 94 in .357. I really liked mine but didn't shoot it enough so I traded it to a local store for an AR.

I love my Marlin 1894CS - an older version of the 1894C. It has an 18 1/2" barrel and they are also scarce here around Indy and expensive when you can find them as well.

If you get one, I'm sure you'll love it. Good luck with you search.

It would be my pleasure to order you one, shipped to the FFL of your choice ... but ALL of my distributors are out of them.

You can probably find one on GunBroker or GunAuction

yes sir..
I got (2) already sold when they become available again.
The rep has permission to ship without even calling me

Is the 1873 action up to handling a whole lot of full power .357 loads though? I love the look of the 1873 but I'm relatively sure a 1892 Winchester knockoff or 1894 Marlin (or used Winchester) would outlive one.

Yeah- you are right in that regard. The '73 would be a great .38 Special gun (tuned for that length cartridge.) But if you want a stronger action for Buffalo Bore wall shakers then a '92 is the way to go. I picked up a brand new Rossi 92 in .45 Colt last year from Cheaper Than Dirt for $419. And it was even purty!

I absolutely love my Marlin 1894c. It also has the added benefit of having a variety of excellent peep sights available for it. Feeds both .357 magnum and .38 lead flat nose bullets just fine for me.
