I was out with my Super and Sig today shooting different reloads testing them out.
Here is the bench setup and all of the mags. I hate loading mags, so I buy a bunch, load them during cease fires and then blast.
On the bench is a 229 Sport and a 38 super Witness Elite Match. Both are high quality "match grade" guns in similar calibers. I was blasting with either 145 grn lead RN's on the super or 124 grn lead RN's in both and finally 115 grn Rem JHP's in the Sig. At simlar velocities both guns recoil about the same because the witness has a heavier slide and the sig is comped. The Sig has just shy of 9000 rnds down it and the super has just over 1300. Both are excellent guns.
Couple of comments after firing 600 rnds of Sig and 500 rnds of Super. After a while both guns can beat you up and I noted toward the end I was getting a bit tired. The sig is easier to shoot do to the more ergonomic frame and trigger assembly. The super has by far a better cleaner crisper trigger. No comparison between the two. Both are fun to shoot in different ways. The super just keeps dropping rounds into the group and the sig is hot and loud but very controllable.
I did note the the sig does not like lead at all and basically scattered them. Go back to JHP's and it is very accurate. Not sure why, but I won't repeat that mistake.
Now to the results.
145 grn RN, 50 shots, 15 yrds offhand. Accurate and reliable reloads. 7.8 grns of Blue dot for a mild plinker load.
124 grn rem JHP with 13.6 grns of AA9. Accurate and reliable.
124 grn RN 50 shots, 15 yrds offhand. 13.0 grns of Lil Gun. This is a nice accurate and reliable load. It has a bit of a bark to it.
115 grn rem JHP with 13.6 grns of AA9. This is my standard plinker load in the SIG. Accurate, reliable, and just plain fun to shoot.
So what is the summary? Both guns are fun to shoot. I won't sell either but I can see myself shooting the Super a lot more in the future. It does something I like as a reloader. It puts all of the brass in the catcher! The Sig tosses the occasional piec
