I haven't read all of the responses, but I bought a used Model 10 with the idea of maybe selling it later to my brother-in-law, or a friend I work with who was looking for a good solid home defense gun. After all, why would I keep a .38 when I already had six .357s?
Silly me. After the first trip to the range with this gun, I knew I would never get rid of it. It is probably the most accurate gun I own. The more I shoot it, the more I'm amazed with it. It was made in 1966, pinned pencil barrel. I did change the grips.
I know you might find something cheaper than a new Model 10, but if you find a used 10 or 15, GRAB IT. You'll never regret it.
