4” S&W M19-5 round butt

Something in the neighborhood of 15 years ago I picked up a round-butted 4” model 19. I carried it until a couple of years ago and then put the weapon into semi-retirement. I’ve always known it’s a little bit of an unusual configuration (been carrying some kind of S&W revolver for 35 years) but now I’m starting to realize this is probably part of a small, special run for the Government done in the 80’s. Serial number is AYZ88XX. Does anyone have any info?

Thanks for the reply but this is not really a DOB request. I think there were only a few hundred of these guns made. I’m looking for information on the type rather than info on the individual weapon.
